Serdarušić signs in Celje

Celje Pivovarna Laško has presented Zvonimir "Noka" Serdarušić as their new coach on their official website. The contract with the Croatian runs until the end of season 2012/2013.

Magnificent carrier

As a player Serdarušić managed to win the Bronze medal at the World Championships 1974, as a coach he has won 11 German Championship titles, 5 German Cup trophies, 4 German Supercup titles, 3 EHF Cup trophies, EHF Supercup title and CL title. He was also five times elected "Coach of the year" in Germany.

Serdarušić, one of the most successful coaches ever, said after the signing: "I am very happy over the agreement with Celje, a club which enjoys an exceptional reputation in Europe. Celje’s short-term objectives remain the same. In the first part of the Championship the team won every single game except one draw. So my plan is to maintain the same way."

He then added: "We want and need to win the Slovenian championship and the Slovenian Cup. In the European competition we want to get as far as possible. A lot of work has to be done, no team has risen from the ashes and become European Champions over night. Neither will Celje. The first goal is to get closer to the Europe top teams as soon as possible, that means entering Top 8."
