Strong duo reinforces Larvik

Norwegian women’s champions Larvik HK, who are currently leading Group 1 of the Champions League Main Round, will be considerably reinforced next season.

The two Norwegian backcourt players, playmaker Gro Hammerseng and left back Katja Nyberg, who have both played a lot of internationals for Norway, have signed a two year contract with the club.

29 year old Hammerseng and 30 year old Nyberg are both joining from Danish top club FC Midtjylland Håndbold.

"Larvik was the most interesting club for me right now, I think this is where I can develop best," Gro Hammerseng, who has played 149 internationals so far, told Norwegian TV2 as the new players were introduced in Larvik on Wednesday.

Even though both players have signed on for only two years, Katja Nyberg, who has 99 international games on her CV, would not rule out a longer stay at Norway’s women club number one.

"We will have to see in two years time. So far we have not decided on anything," Nyberg said.

Apart from Hammerseng and Nyberg, Larvik have also signed a two year contract with the 18 year old left handed backcourt player Amanda Kurtovic, who is joining from Nordstrand, another Norwegian league club.

The contract with Kurtovic is also valid from the start of next season.
