Two easy points in Greece?

Chekhovskie Medvedi are heading for a last round victory against PAOK.

Two easy points in Greece?

Last week the Russian champions Chekhovskie Medvedi not only lost the battle against Montpellier by a single goal but also their last chance on the top position Group A.

Certainly Coach Vladimir Maksimov was not pleased with the performance of the players. After the final whistle he only named line player Mikhail Chipurin as being good enough.

Last weekend Medvedi was on a trip in the Ural Mountains. They played two Russian Super League and Coach Maksimov held a workshop for trainers of the Ural region.

The games were pretty successful. In the city of Snezhinsk they clearly defeated Sungul with a score of 42:27. On Sunday the Bears celebrated another victory (39:28) in Chelyabinsk against Lokomotiv.

Medvedi lead the Russian league table with a maximum of points. In the Men’s Champions League they are going to finish second but still have an aim for their last game.

At the away game on Wednesday against PAOK Saloniki they aim for their second victory on the road in this season. This couldn’t be accomplished since the defeat of Romanian HCM Constanta in the fifth round of the Champions League.

And chances are not too bad, as the Greek side will finish last in the group and Medvedi hopes for an easy game…
