Holding the success squadArpad Šterbik has prolonged his contract with Ciudad Real until 2017. This ends all rumours linking the goalkeeper to FC Barcelona. Ciudad’s President Domingo Diaz de Mera explained: "After negotiating with him we have come to an agreement. He will not only be with us until 2014, he will play for Ciudad Real until 2017." This was also very much appreciated by the club’s fans, because Šterbik is seen as one of the most valuable players. The Spanish keeper explained his decision: "I have been in Ciudad Real for some seasons and I believe it is a great club. We are always in the fight for titles. Being a professional player I did listen to other club’s offers. But I knew that I would not really leave Ciudad Real." Arpad Šterbik was very happy over extending his contract: "I have an agreement with President Domingo but the contract is not signed. After the talking we now will close the agreement soon. I am very happy and wanted to stay in Ciudad for some more seasons." Talant Dujshebaev’s team has been renewing player contracts in the last months. Jonas Källman, Roberto García, Petar Metličić and David Davis will stay at the Spanish champion. The next key player prolonged is Didier Dinart. The French defence specialist will play for Ciudad until 2013. TEXT: Fernando Urra Goñi |
