Kiel: Ilić injuredTitle holders THW Kiel (GER) might have won their first Group Stage match in the VELUX EHF Champions League against Chambery Savoie (FRA) with a clear 35:23, but the victory turns out to be an expensive one. Their Serbian left back Momir Ilić will fall out of the squad again for a while, as he suffered an ankle injury in the game. It happened in the final minutes of the match when the 28 year old stepped on the foot of an opponent player who tried to stop his shooting attempt. Ilić was immediately taken out of the court and did not return to the game afterwards. Ilić underwent an MRI scan this morning. THW Kiel's club doctor Frank Pries diagnosed that he has torn a ligament of the left ankle. According to the Club's website the Serbian international will not play for 2-3 weeks. Besides Kim Andersson and Daniel Narcisse, Momir Ilić is the third back court player on Kiel's injury list, who THW Coach Alfred Gislason will not be able to count on for the upcoming VELUX EHF Champions League match against F.C. Barcelona-Borges. The match is not only the reprise of last season's EHF FINAL4 final game but also a pre-decisive game for the ranking in Group A. The game is our „Match of the Week" and will be broadcasted live on our free of charge web stream on ehfTV.com, including english commentary. TEXT: Ivan Ambroš |
