Technical problems during broadcast

Referring to the technical problems experienced during the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League match between FC Barcelona Borges and Rhein Neckar Löwen on Saturday 25 September 2010 in Barcelona, which meant that the match could not be broadcast by various right holders, EHF Marketing GmbH wishes to make the following statement:

Due to a technical failure/breakdown in the SNG truck provided by a sub-supplier of TV Cataluña, the TV signal from the VELUX EHF Men´s Champions League match FC Barcelona Borges – Rhein Neckar Löwen in Barcelona on 25 September 2010 could not be uplinked throughout the entire match. The technical failure that occurred was such that it took more than two hours to detect and resolve the problem – too late to uplink the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League first round match in time.

TV Cataluña and EHF Marketing are extremely sorry for this situation and apologise for the fact that this top match could not be watched by many handball fans in different countries.

EHF Marketing wishes to underline that the SNG failure was not within the area of responsibility of any right holder or television station, which were ready to broadcast the match. Such an exceptional situation has never occurred before in the competition and EHF Marketing, working together with all of its TV partners and producers, will do its utmost to ensure that such technical problems are not experienced again.
