"My legs are much stronger!"

Veszprém’s goal machine Marko Vujin is full of confidence.

"My legs are much stronger!"

Marko Vujin is in superb form. He has scored 22 goals in MKB Veszprém on the first two matches of VELUX EHF Men's Champions League. Together with Schaffhausen’s Mait Patrail he is on top of the CL scorer’s list.

eurohandball.com: You scored 9 goals against Tatran and 13 goals against Hamburg. What is your secret?

Marko Vujin: We are working hard every day. After my knee operation I trained through the whole summer. Because I couldn’t play for four months, I had to prepare extra much for this season. Already in summer I felt that my legs have become much stronger than before the operation. I also felt that I would be in a good form. And thank God that came true, as I already played well in preparation matches, then in the Hungarian League and now also in the VELUX EHF Men's Champions League.

eurohandball.com: Are you happy with your team’s European performance so far?

Marko Vujin: We don’t have to be in a euphoric mood only because we won against Tatran and Hamburg. We still have a lot of matches in front of us and have to go along step by step, and the next step is Montpellier. Currently this is our most important task. In Veszprém everybody would like to see us at the VELUX EHF FINAL4. But that will be very hard, and that’s why we must play in good form on each match.

eurohandball.com: Do you think MKB Veszprém is stronger than last season?

Marko Vujin: I wouldn’t say so, but I hope this time we will be luckier. We have definitely improved in attack, all of us seem to play better. Maybe Kiel, Hamburg and Ciudad Real still have a bit of an advantage, because unlike Veszprém they all have two world class players on each position. We only have a few players who play on the most important matches. It can be a problem in March and April when we generally get tired in the last 15 minutes against the strongest teams. Somehow we must get rid of this disadvantage.

eurohandball.com: How would you describe your next opponent, Montpellier?

Marko Vujin: They are very strong. I’m sure they would like to prove on away match that their loss against Hamburg was only an accident. Nikola Karabatić is the world’s best player, and Montpellier’s defence is extremely strong. Anyway, I expect another two points for us.

The game is our „Match of the Week" and will be broadcasted live on our free of charge web stream on ehfTV.com, including English commentary by Tom O'Brannagain.
