Men’s EHF EURO 2012: site visits in SerbiaThe Serbian Handball Federation, organiser of the Men’s EHF EURO 2012, has informed the EHF on the venue infrastructure situation, including a major change. On 11-12 November, the EHF delegation has arrived in Serbia for a follow-up inspection and visited two Preliminary Round venues in Nis and Belgrade. According to the information given by the Serbian Handball Federation, the new sports hall in Nis will not be completed for the EHF EURO 2012. As an alternative solution, Cair sports hall in Nis will be reconstructed in order to meet the standards of an EHF EURO Event Preliminary Round venue. The reconstruction in Nis is scheduled to take place from mid January 2011 to 15 September 2011. Should the reconstruction work not be completed according to plans, another venue will be used for the games. The EHF also inspected the Pionir Arena of Belgrade where reconstructions are also necessary including media work areas and other parts. The works are scheduled to begin on 15 March 2011 and be completed by 15 September 2011. TEXT: EHF |
