Ciudad Real release Evdokimov

Russian pivot has been allowed to return home after niggling injury and adaptation problems.

Ciudad Real release Evdokimov

Russian pivot Egor Evdokimov has left Renovalia Ciudad Real following an injury to his knee and some adaptation problems.

He’d been suffering from his injury since last July and the recuperation process has been very hard because the player was alone in Spain and far away from his family. Evdokimov asked the club to cancel his contract and let him return to Russia.

Luis Miguel Lopez, general manager of Renovalia Ciudad Real, explained (on the club’s official web site) what had driven the player to make this decision.

"He wants to be with his family instead of being alone here in Spain. He talked with our president some weeks ago regarding his request. There were no problems (between player and club)".

The severe knee injury was the key problem.

"We went to see some doctors who said that his knee is now healed, and yet he still feels pain. It was a difficult situation as he couldn’t be with his girlfriend and son. We wish Egor all the best for the future, and hope he can eventually recover from his injury," said Lopez.

Renovalia Ciudad Real will not sign a replacement player for the moment.

"We are looking, but it’s difficult, and we’ll not be rushing to do anything now. We currently have 15 seniors, and we’ll support them with some of our younger players".

Lopez confirmed that Evdokimov is now free to sign for another team.
