Nagy: "I want to win a lot of titles"

As the new captain of F.C. Barcelona-Borges, right back Laszlo Nagy sets the team’s objectives high.

Nagy: "I want to win a lot of titles"

Laszlo Nagy has big shoes to fill, he is the first F.C. Barcelona-Borges captain after the legendary goalkeeper David Barrufet. After having been in Barcelona for a decade, he is an emblematic player and very proud to represent this club.

Nagy is optimistically looking at the future, but he is aware of the long road to walk to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in May.

ehfCL.com: You are the new Barcelona captain after the retirement of Barrufet. What does that mean to you?

Laszlo Nagy: It is a proud moment for me, and it is very important. It gives me responsibility, too, as I was elected by the coach and my team mates. Their confidence is important for me. It still feels a bit strange to hear people talk about me as the captain after so many years with Barrufet. But of course it is an honour.

ehfCL.com: What is your job as captain?

Laszlo Nagy: Off court I have a lot of representation work for our great handball team together with the management of the club and with external institutions. Luckily our team is a very close group and my team mates make this job easy for me. As a captain, I hope to raise a lot of trophies with my hands.

ehfCL.com: How didi it feel to return to the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League after the break?

Laszlo Nagy: Against Löwen we were very motivated. After the draw in Mannheim we have to give our best to finally qualify for the Last 16, and one point in the last two rounds is enough for that. As a team we need to stick together because the next three months will be decisive to win titles. This season we are thinking about winning all important titles because it has been a while since we did.

ehfCL.com: Does the defeat in last year’s VELUX EHF FINAL4 final somehow motivate the team in that respect?

Laszlo Nagy: For sure it does. We remember losing the final in the last fifteen minutes of the game, and is a bad memory. So we want to be part of the next VELUX EHF FINAL4, and then reach the final again.

ehfCL.com : What is the objective of the team right now?

Laszlo Nagy: We will try climb a place in Group A's table if not even win the group with help of other teams. Our team is currently in a very good shape, but besides us Kiel and Löwen are on an equal level and we all hope to finish at the top.
