The fixtures of the Last 16 will be drawn on Monday 07 March 2011 at 19:00 hrs.


VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League – Last 16 Draw

The Group Phase of the 2010/11 VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League has come to an end. Sixteen teams finishing in place one to four in each of the four groups will now continue onto the first knock-out stage, the Last 16.

On Monday 07 March 2011 at 19:00 hrs the draw of the fixtures of the Last 16 of the VELUX EHF Men’s Champions League will take place in the Gartenhotel Altmannsdorf, Vienna (AUT).

Qualified Teams

The teams have been put into four pots, with all the group winners in Pot 1, the teams finishing on second place in Pot 2, the teams finishing on third place in Pot 3 and the teams finishing on fourth place in Pot 4.

Protection of teams

No team can meet a team from the same Group Phase group again. The protection does not apply for teams from the same country, in this competition stage it is possible that two clubs of the same country meet.

Draw modus

First a team from Pot 1 is drawn. This team automatically has the home right in the second leg match. Then an opponent from the eligible teams of Pot 4 is drawn. This team automatically has the home right in the first leg match. Following this procedure all four teams from Pot 1 are allocated to opponents from Pot 4.

After that the first team from Pot 2 is drawn. This team automatically has the home right in the second leg match. Then an opponent from the eligible teams of Pot Pot 3 is drawn. This team automatically has the home right in the first leg match. Following this procedure all teams from Pot 2 are allocated to opponents from Pot 3.

Draw schedule

The draw will be held as a gala event in the Europasaal of Gartenhotel Altmannsdorf in Vienna, Austria. Competition schedule

The first leg matches of the Last 16 games will take place on 23 – 27 March 2011, the second leg matches are to be played on 30 March – 03 April 2011. The draw of the Quarterfinals will take place on Monday 04 April 2011.

Draw Broadcast

The draw will be broadcast live from 19:00 hrs (local time, GMT +1) on ehfTV.com, the official Internet TV platform of the European Handball Federation, offering free live streaming as well as a video on demand service.

Also featured on the live stream, directly after the draw representatives of the 16 clubs will be giving statements and first reactions to the fixtures and their opponents.
