Hungarians celebrate in Spain

The Hungarian club has now won the Cup Winners´ Cup for the second time in their history (the first being in 1978) with a home victory and away draw against its Spanish counterpart C.B. Mar Alicante.

C.B. Mar Alicante (ESP) - FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria (HUN) 23:23 (10:11)
First leg: FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria (HUN) - CB Mar Alicante (ESP) 34:29 (17:12)
On aggregate: 57:52 for FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria

The winning of this cup is the result of hard work throughout the season for Gábor Elek´s team, whose players had tough challenges, facing quality opponents in both the Hungarian league and the Cup Winners´ Cup.

In this year´s Cup Winners´ Cup middle back Zita Szucsánszki and her team mates defeated, among others, last year´s EHF Champions League winner Viborg HK, followed by victories against more strong opponents, Toulon and Metz from France.
