EHF Court of Handball decisionThe EHF Court of Handball has made a decision in the case concerning the Ukrainian national team player Oleksii Ganchev. The player received a six-month suspension for anti-doping rule violation. The violation occurred during in-competition doping control on 12 June 2011 in the frame of the EHF EURO 2012 Qualification tournaments. The athlete’s urine sample contained an adverse analytical finding for cannabis. Cannabinoids, banned in competition, are classified as "specified substances" on the 2011 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. Based on a fault analysis surrounding the player’s use of cannabis, the EHF Court of Handball decided to impose on Oleksii Ganchev a suspension of six months, ending 8 January 2012. The athlete is ineligible to participate in any handball (club and national team) competition organised or authorised by the EHF or by its Member and Associated Federations until that date. The decision of the EHF Court of Handball is legally binding. TEXT: EHF |
