Countdown to SerbiaLast Saturday, 100 days before the start of the EHF EURO 2012 the "Countdown" started in four Serbian cities.
Belgrade’s place of handball meeting is a plato in front of the biggest shopping centre of the capital, "Delta City". Many people will have opportunity to see promotional activities every 10 days. They will be informed about all the things connected with the biggest handball event in the history of Serbia. The first promotional activity started with the clock activation. The clock will count down days, hours and minutes until the start of the competition on 15 January 2012. "I am really glad that our city will be a part of the Handball Fantasy. The EHF EURO 2012 has a big importance for the promotion of Belgrade and Serbia. Belgrade has many times proven to be a good host of top sports events. Hopefully, this EHF EURO event will be a new beginning for many kids, who will choose a healthy lifestyle and handball.
The city Secretary of Sport, Aca Kovacevic, underlined the city of Belgrade’s support of to the "Handball Fantasy" project: "We have already started with the preparations and finished some things. Pionir Arena is now on the level of EHF standards, as is Beogradska Arena. The city of Belgrade is doing everything to be good organisers as we have always been. Our wish is to send a nice picture of our country to the world," said Kovacevic. Bozidar Djurkovic, Secretary General of the Serbian Handball Federation was satisfied with all the efforts in organization of the EHF EURO 2012: "We took advantage of the opportunity to invite an EHF EURO 2012 Delegation and to begin this campaign 100 days before the start of championship. We want to have sold-out halls from Vrsac to Nis. For that, this kind of promotional actions are very important. See you at the next action, 90 days before the start!"
After the Preliminary Round in the Pionir Arena, teams from Group A and Group B (Nis) will open "Beograska Arena" for handball matches for the first time ever, and set a new record figure in the number of spectators at a European championship handball match. Further information
