The Moldovans win Group B of the IHF/EHF 2011 Men's Challenge Trophy on 4-6 November 2011 in Msida, Malta.


Moldova victorious in Malta

The Group Stage of the 7th edition of the IHF/EHF Men’s Challenge Trophy was carried out over this weekend. On 4-6 November 2011, four national teams met in Malta and four others in Ireland to play out the two finalists.

Group B’s tournament was played in Tal-Qroqq University Sports Hall in the town of Msida, Malta, on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. It was the third time for Malta to host an IHF/EHF Challenge Trophy.

Beside the four national teams of Moldova, Azerbaijan, Scotland and hosts Malta battling for victory, the occasion was used for the transfer of know-how and exchanges regarding handball refereeing and coaching with focus on development and professionalism.

Final in Belgrade in 2012

The group victory takes the Faroe Islands to the final match, which will be played in the Pionir Arena, Belgrade (SRB), on Saturday 21 January 2012 within the framework of the EHF EURO 2012.

Their opponents will be the Faroe Islands, who were victorious in the Group A tournament in Ireland.
