Women's EHF Cup: Semi-Finals

Lada (RUS) vs. KIF Vejen (DEN)
C.B. Mar Alicante (ESP) vs. Handball Club Zalău (ROU)

Speaking after the draw to eurohandball.com Chis Mirel-Ioan, Member of the Board - Handball Club Zalău said:

"Zalău is a small town of just over 60,000 people so it is a honour to be in the semi-final of the Women's EHF Cup. Handball is the number one sport in the town and HC Zalău have all ages levels of teams playing the game - our whole team is Romanian and many of the players are from Zalău itself."

Speaking of their rivals in the semi-final, C.B. Mar Alicante, Mirel-Ioan was keen to point out that any match-up would have been difficult.

"Of course it is good for us to play away in Spain first and have home advantage in the second leg," he explained. "But all the teams here are very good. Our league form has been good; we have been second in the league for the past two or seasons, but we will fight to the end.  With Oltchim in the semi-finals of the EHF Women's Champions League it is a strong time for Romanian women's handball."
