Ryan Zinglersen leaves FC Midtjylland
Danish champions FC Midtjylland parted company with head coach Ryan Zinglersen on Friday. The new head coach will be former assistant trainer Helle Thomsen.
Due to the club´s current financial situation, the security of star players such as Linnea Torstensson and Trine Troelsen is also not yet assured.
Sports chief Hans Peter Riis commented: "In a careful review to select the best coaching set-up for the Danish play-offs we decided that we have the brightest future with Thomsen."
"We are forced to make savings in the coming year," Riis explained in a press statement.
"This also includes the salary of a coach. Strategically, we need a coach who will focus more on working with young talents," the sports chief added.
"Helle has proven her capabilities as an assistant to lead and motivate the team and we believe that she is the right person to lead the team again in the championship finals," Riis explained.
Thomsen is initially only hired as head coach until the end of the season. Who will occupy the FCM sidelines at the start of the new season remains unclear. The question of who will be appointed as co-trainer is also to be resolved.
