EHF President meets with Prime Minister of MontenegroThe Prime Minister of Montenegro Igor Lukšić received Tor Lian, EHF President and Predrag Bošković, President of the Handball Federation of Montenegro today (Sunday 13 May) a few hours ahead of the EHF Women's Champions League Final in the Morača Hall in Podgorica. Lukšić said that the match between home side Buducnost and Hungarian side Györi AUDI ETO KC has great importance for the further development and promotion not only of handball, but also of Montenegrin sport in general. "Although a small country, Montenegro is a country of sports talents," said the Prime Minister. "In the past, we have achieved great results in various sports, above all, water polo, basketball, handball, football, and others". Lukšić stated that, despite the economic situation, the Government of Montenegro has in the past carried out a series of activities and creating an institutional framework and legal development of sport, also improving infrastructure, strengthening of funds for sports development. By the introduction of special programmes for gifted young people and coaches, Lukšić said, the Government of Montenegro created opportunities for better results in individual sports. Tor Lian said he was pleased he is once again in Montenegro, and he expressed the satisfaction about the cooperation with the Handball Federation of Montenegro. He said that the mission of the European Handball Federation is to promote, strengthen and popularise handball in Europe and through the programmes of EHF there are lot of opportunities for education, exchange of experiences and capacity building. "In that sense," the EHF President said, "we believe that through continued partnership with the Handball Federation of Montenegro, and taking advantage of our programmes together we can contribute to the promotion of handball in Montenegro, but also to have more events such as this EHF Women's Champions League Final in the Morača Hall”, said Lian.
