Görbicz crowned top scorer in EHF Women's Champions LeagueGörbicz's 133 goals in 16 games played a big part in the Hungarian champions’ journey to the final of this season’s EHF Women's Champions League, but her side lost out to Budućnost thanks to the away goal rule. But a small consolation for Győri Audi ETO was that their playmaker Görbicz picked up the top scorer trophy for the 2011/2012 EHF Women's Champions League season. "It was a very long season full of demanding matches and I´m not completely satisfied with it due to missing out the silverware at the EHF Women's Champions League,” said Görbicz. “I´m not sad though, as we celebrated first place in both the Hungarian league and the domestic cup. Nobody should forget the extraordinary performance of my team mates that helped me massively in finishing as top scorer of the tournament." This season Anita Görbicz grew more focused on how to improve her handball capabilities, so throughout the season the middle-back showed coolness and confidence. "My only focus was the performance,” she added. “Besides the usual collective training programs, individual training helped me to improve my technical and tactical skills and abilities." And Görbicz named her passionate supporters as vital part for her success: "The Győri Audi ETO fans helped me get through tough times. Their support means a lot to me, and I want to say thanks to them." TEXT: Márk Hegedüs |
