EHF EURO 2014 Phase 1 Qualification

16 teams, six places – but just who will qualify?

EHF EURO 2014 Phase 1 Qualification

Friday 8 June sees the start of the long road to the EHF EURO 2014 as Phase 1 Qualification throws off across Europe.

16 teams will play in Phase 1 for six places in Phase 2 and the chance to qualify for Europe’s flagship national teams competition.

Playing in four groups of four teams, matches throw off on Friday, 8 June 2012 and will be completed on Sunday, 10 June.

The top team in each group and the two top-ranked teams from all four groups with go through to the next round.

The best ranked second placed team will be decided taking into consideration all results of the respective group, with the following criteria:

1. Higher number of points obtained in the group
2. Superior goal difference from all group matches (achieved by substraction)
3. Higher number of goals scored in all group matches

If none of these criteria select the two teams, then a higher EHF men’s national team ranking will decide which team goes through, if this still does not lead to a decision, the final decision will be made via a draw.
