VELUX EHF FINAL4: Europe bidding for handball memorabilia

A total of 7,287.99 euro has been donated to German Cancer Aid by handball fans from all over Europe, support was generated through an auction of exclusive memorabilia from this year’s VELUX EHF FINAL4. German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe) is the official charity partner of the VELUX EHF FINAL4.

For ten days handball fans had the chance to bid on eBay for the one-off handball souvenirs from this year’s VELUX EHF FINAL4. Numerous signed jerseys, shorts and other accessories were up for auction throughout the event. The auction came to a close at 2200 hrs on Thursday, 21 June.

Handball fans from far and wide

Amongst the winners there were fans from all over Europe, not only fans who had clubs directly involved in the VELUX EHF FINAL4, namely from Germany, Denmark and Spain but there were also fans from counties which would not be immediately affiliated with handball, counties such a Portugal and Greece.

Match ball raises largest sum

The biggest sum was collected for the match ball from the final in the LANXESS arena in Cologne. The winner invested 605.06 Euro to get his hands on the ball, a ball which some of the best handball players in the world played with on the final day. The ball will be presented to the highest bidder at a VELUX EHF Champions League group game. 

The jersey signed by THW Kiel went under the hammer at 572.89 Euro. The signed shirts from the other finalists raised in total 651.01 euro.
