An overview of the stars from the Men's 20 European Championship


All-star team announced

Spain were crowned champions of the the Men’s 20 European Championship which took place in Turkey over the past two weeks.

The all-star team was announced which consists of players from six different countries. 

Goalkeeper: Peter Johanesson (SWE)

Goalkeeper Peter Johanesson stood out over the duration of the tournament, helping the Swedish selection to top their Group C in the Preliminary round and finish second in the Group M2.

Johanesson and Company finished fourth overall losing out to inevitable Champions Spain in the semi-finals. 

Left Wing: Patrick Zieker (GER)

The German left wing Patrick Zieker was a force to be reckoned with throughout the tournament, Zieker shone most brightly in the Group D match against France, the left wing clocked up 10 goals against the French selection. 

Left Back and Pivot: Stipe Mandalinic and Teo Coric (CRO)

Stipe Mandalinic the Croatian left back and pivot Teo Coric were core in the Croatians successful campaign, the Croatians went home with silver losing out to Spain in the final.

Mandaclinic drove the Croatians to the final with 11 goals in the semi-final against Slovenia and was voted the most valuable player of the tournament.

Coric’s best performances were against Norway as he scored 8 from the line.

Against Poland in the tight Group B clash, Coric was named man-of-the-match after his heroic performance.

Centre Back: Rui Silva (POR)

Top scorer of the tournament Rui Silva was one of the big stars of the tournament scoring a total of 54 goals over the ten days of the tournament.

The centre back’s final scoring tally was helped on by his outstanding performance against Switzerland – in a game that went through two rounds of extra-time and had to be decided in a penalty shoot-out – Silva left the field with 20 goals to his name.    

Right Back: Alex Dujshebaev (ESP)

Alex Dujshebaev carried the Spanish to the final with a man-of-the-match performance against Sweden, scoring 10. Dujshebaev was voted the best right back of the tournament alongside Juan Jose Fernandez Sanchez as best defensive player, both playing a central role as the Spaniards were crowned Men’s European Champions. 

Right Wing: Mario Sostaric (SLO)

Mario Sostaric dominated the right wing position in Turkey, Sostaric had his best performance during the Slovenian 36-34 victory against Sweden clocking up 9 goals.
