Veszprem confirm Nagy transfer

The biggest summer transfer saga has come to the end. Hungarian champion MKB Veszprem have announced that one of Europe’s best right backs, Laszlo Nagy (31), has signed a five-year deal with the club until 2017.

Three weeks ago, F.C. Barcelona Intersport released an official statement voicing that Nagy will stay in the team until end of the current contract which runs out next summer (2013). “Nagy is the best right back in the world and he is indispensable in our plans for next season,” stated the Spanish outfit.

In the meantime the Spanish champion has signed contracts with two right backs in Angel Montoro and Eduardo Gurbindo, which was a sign that Nagy could still leave the club before the start of the upcoming season.

12 years of success

Laszlo Nagy came to F.C. Barcelona in 2000 from the Hungarian team Pick Szeged. As a part of the Barca family, he has won the VELUX EHF Champions League twice (2005 and 2011), EHF Cup (2003) and four ASOBAL titles (2003, 2006, 2007, 2012). Nagy (208cm) became the first ever non-Catalan captain of the seven-time EHF Champions League winners.

The Hungarian international is currently with the national team at his second Olympic Games in London after his debut in Athens in 2004, where Hungary finished fourth.

MKB Veszprem have invested a lot into their squad for the coming season. Since Antonio Carlos Ortega was appointed as coach, a number of players have made their way from Spain: from F.C. Barcelona left wing Christian Ugalde and line player Marco Oneto have made their way to Hungarian side. Additionally, the top Hungarian team also signed a playmaker in Chema Rodriguez from BM Atletico Madrid.
