||
Slovenian player suspendedIgor Zabic has been suspended from the participation in EHF younger age category national team competitions for one match. The decision by the Court of Handball follows the Slovenian national team player’s direct disqualification in the bronze medal match between Sweden and Slovenia in the 2012 EHF Men’s 20 European Championship on 15 July 2012. The EHF Court of Handball found that the foul committed by the player in the final seconds of the second period of extra time, which led to his direct disqualification, was an action of serious unsportsmanlike conduct deserving further sanction. The Court found that the foul was intentional and committed against an opponent in order to gain time in the final second of the match in order to attempt to preserve the result of the match. The player is therefore not entitled to participate in the next official match of the Men’s 20/U21 Slovenian national team at international level. An appeal to the decision can be made up to 21 August 2012. TEXT: EHF |
