Throw-off in MontenegroAt 13.45 hrs today starts the IHF Women’s Youth World Championship in Montenegro with the matches between defending champion Sweden vs Croatia and Brazil vs Japan. Over the next 10 days, 20 teams – 12 European teams – compete in Podgorica (Sportski Centar Moraca), home of the actual Women's EHF Champions League winner Buducnost, and in Bar (Sportski Centar Topolica). Only five days after the hosting nation, Montenegro, won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in London, Montenegro welcomes the future stars of women’s handball. The 20 teams are spread among 4 groups. The matches of group A and C will be staged in Podgorica, whereas group B and D play their Preliminary Round matches in Bar.
After the Preliminary Round, the two best ranked teams of each group proceed to the knock-out stage. The semi-finals and the final will take place on the 25 and 26 August in Bar.
