15 referee pairs will attend the 2012 EHF Referee Seminar as they prepare for EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia


Europe’s elite referees to meet in Vienna

The continent’s top referees will be in the Austrian capital from 31 August to 2 September 2012 as 15 referee pairs begin their preparations for the Women’s EHF European Championship.

The course will serve as the first stage in the referees’ preparations for the EHF’s flagship national team event, which will be played from 4 to 16 December 2012 in Serbia.

A full and detailed programme will focus on physical fitness testing, mental skills and cooperation with delegates to allow for informed and strategic handling of challenging situations.

The 2012 EHF Referee Seminar will be held with a maximum of 15 referee pairs out of which the 12 will be selected for the Women’s EHF EURO. An announcement of the final selection with be made in mid-October 2012.

In September 2009 the EHF carried out a similar and successful event with 30 referee pairs and also organised a referee event in 2011 in preparation for the Men’s EHF EURO, which was played in Serbia in January 2012.

EHF Competence Academy and Network (EHF CAN)

The event is organised by EHF CAN, the European Handball Federation’s educational service. EHF CAN develops and delivers sport specific educational and training programmes in order to ensure that coaches, officials, athletes and administrators in Europe and worldwide have access to the highest quality education and ‘handball know-how’.
