Sigurdsson extends contract to 2017

After reaching the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in their first ever season in the VELUX EHF Champions League, Füchse Berlin have now extended the contract of coach Dagur Sigurdsson for five more years, until 2017. Sigurdsson came to Berlin in 2009 and will start his fourth season with Füchse in a few days.

Sigurdsson is only the second coach of the Berlin club for whom stability and long term thinking are very important.

“I’m looking forward to integrating young players into our professional team and to continue competing at a high level,” said Sigurdsson.

“The development is going in the right direction and some exciting years lie ahead of us."

When the team first competed in the highest German league, Sigurdsson led them to ninth place before being third ranked team in 2011 and 2012.

In the new season, Füchse Berlin will again be a part of the VELUX EHF Champions League where they will meet FC Barcelona Intersport, HC Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb, Kadetten Schaffhausen, Pick Szeged and a qualifier in the Group Phase.
