Perfect day for KielceMore than 4000 spectators in the Hall Legionów cheered Vive Targi Kielce on to a victory in Round 1 of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2012/13 against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. The Polish champions made the first step in the right direction, but in the Round 2 they will have to prove their role without the support of frenzied crowds as they play in Chekhov, the interim home of HC St. Petersburg. The side which is highly touted as the hottest favourite of the Group C displayed some great defence against their Danish rivals last weekend, and right back Krzysztof Lijewski was more than satisfied. "I 'm very happy, it was a great match and we all enjoyed it," he said for Polish media. Kielce showed great concentration from the first whistle to the last, and Lijewski added: "We should all be pleased with our attitude. There was no downtime like you get in the domestic league. We gained two points and we have nothing to be disappointed about." One of their best players was Željko Musa, the Croatian line player who shined with 100 per cent shot efficiency after scoring seven goals out of seven shots. "The whole team deserved the victory. We can play even better in defence, but the final result is not bad," admitted Musa. Russian runners-up from St. Petersburg will be the next opponent for Kielce on Saturday, 6 October (19:00 hrs local time). "If we want to win in Chekhov, we have to cut out our mistakes. It will be a tough match for us," Musa warned.
