Women´s Cup Winners´s Cup Round 2, second leg review

Six more teams joined SPR Lublin from Poland and Izmir BSB SK from Turkey on the list of successful qualifiers of Round 2 of Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup last weekend.

Two national title holders eliminated from the Women´s EHF Champions League last month have been ousted from the Cup Winners´ Cup as well. Turkey´s Muratpasa Belediyesi SK Antalya failed to defend the six goal cushion from the first leg on the court of Croatia RK Lokomotiva Zagreb.

Antalya lost 21:27 and with the same points and goals scored, the away goals sealed the fate of Turkish team.

Switzerland´s LC Brühl hosted both legs against HC Gomel in St. Gallen, but after the narrow victory 32:30 in the first leg, they lost 28:33 in the rematch and the Belarusian side celebrated the berth to Round 3.

Slovakian champions from Iuventa Michalovce lost in the second leg as well, but 23:24 defeat from their well-known interleague rivals from the Czech Republic Britterm Veselí nad Moravou could not stop them reaching the next round thanks to the eight goal win in the first leg.

SERCODAK Dalfsen prevailed over Cypriotic outfit SPE Strovolos again as the Dutch champions won the second leg 31:19 and by 36 goals on aggregate.

The first leg of Cup Winners´ Cup Round 3 will be played 10-11 November, the second leg is scheduled one week later.
