Video for women's EHF EURO 2012 anthem released

The video for the official anthem of the Women’s EHF Euro 2012 in Serbia next month has been released and its lyrics will be instantly recognised by fans who attend the 16 nation event taking place 4-16 December, as will the stars of the video.

The clip will run hand in hand with the competition’s official anthem, a song resembling the “Never Forget” tune composed by Nikola Cuturilo and performed by Ogi Radivojevic for the Men’s EHF EURO 2012, although some of the words and the performers have been altered.

The Serbian women’s national team took part in the shoot and are the main focus of the video.

Jelena Eric, one of Serbia’s most experienced players, offered her account on the day-long shoot.

“We are all elated, it was quite simply unbelievable,” she said. “We worked with great professionals and all the girls are so excited the set was perfect.

“The Serbian Handball Federation did a great job to set this up and make it happen because this is exactly the kind of affirmative action women’s handball needs to flourish.

“Everyone will benefit from it, most of all those involved in the EHF EURO 2012 and next year’s World Championship in Serbia.”

The song was performed by 16 year-old Ada Mihajlović, whose music talents also include playing the violin, 10-year old Ralja Brajović and Danilo Čuturilo, the latter is also a guitar player in the making, as well as by 11-year old Ivan Manojlović.

The video cuts between the young musicians, clips of the Serbian team in action as well as their exploits in the video shoot, with a cameo from the tournament mascot.
