Six weeks out for Accambray with broken nose

William Accambray will miss three VELUX EHF Champions League games with his injury

William Accambray, broke his nose playing for the French national team against Lithuania in the EHF EURO 2014 qualifiers on Thursday in Rouen.

Accambray’s club, Montpellier, said that he will have to wait until 13 November to undergo surgery, in order for the edema to diminish. With a healing time of one month, it means that Accambray will not be able to play until mid-December.

As a result, Accambray will miss three VELUX EHF Champions League games, the double-header against Patizan as well as the visit of Flensburg Handewitt.

The left back, who is currently Montpellier’s top scorer in the French league, should be back just in time to take part in the league clash with Chambéry, scheduled for 18 December.

"I am disappointed, because I was feeling very good at the moment.

"We have some key games coming up with Montpellier in the Champions League in the coming month, and I hope that the fact Nikola Karabatić is back will make up for my absence.

"It is always annoying to let the team down at such a period of time," William Accambray told French media.
