Saint Raphäel bolster squad for next season
Saint Raphäel have just announced their first recruit for next season, in 28 year-old Icelandic national team player Arnór Atlason.
Saint Raphäel, who took part in the Wild Card tournament for the VELUX EHF Champions League at the beginning of the season, want to secure their presence in European competition after signing their second player who has played in the VELUX EHF Champions League in two years, the first one being Adrien Di Panda from León last summer.
Arnór Atlason, formerly of AG København, plays with Flensburg-Handewitt at the moment and can play right back or center back.
Atlason took part in the last VELUX EHF FINAL4 with AG København, and won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing with the Icelandic national team, as well as a bronze medal in the last EHF EURO tournament.
Atlason told French media: "I am really happy in Flenbsurg at the moment. The environment and the fans are great.
“I have made the decision to come to France for me and my family. It will be a great opportunity to discover a new culture.
“I still hope that I can make it to Cologne with Flensburg, and play in the Champions League FINAL4."
