Three German teams in Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup Last 16The list of the Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup Last 16 has been completed as ten more teams joined previously qualified WHC Metalurg from Macedonia and Balonmano Bera Bera from Spain from the Round 3 of this competition. Four other outfits followed from the EHF Champions League after they ranked third in the final standings of Group Matches – Austria´s Hypo Niederösterreich, Croatia´s RK Podravka, Russia´s Dinamo Volgograd and Germany´s Thüringer HC. The draw of the Last 16 pairings will take place on Tuesday, 20 November (11:00 hrs local time) at the EHF Office in Vienna. The seedings will be released later on Monday. The most thrilling match was played in Bekkestua, Norway, where Stabaek Handball quickly squandered their five goal cushion from the first leg in Hungary. Budapest Bank Békéscsabai ENKSE, whose Ukrainian right back Olha Nikolyenko scored 11 goals, were leadind by six ten minutes before the end, but failed to complete the shocking turn and after the aggregate victory 51:50 Stabaek received the ticket. The other Hungarian club Váci NKSE profited from eight goals of their top scorer Szabina Tapai (pictured right). They quickly erased a two goals defeicit from the first match against Lokomotiva Zagreb and won 29:20. In a match between two EHF Champions League qualifiers Iuventa Michalovce were very close to surprise Rostov Don. After the Slovakian champions lost the first leg at home by three goals, they were leading in front of 2000 spectators by the same difference right after the break. But Rostov answered with a string of five goals as two of them scored with one player suspended for two minutes. The home club won eventually 26:24 and joined the reigning Russian champions from Dinamo Volgograd in the Last 16. The Dutch title holders were also eliminated as SERCODAK Dalfsen lost both matches on the home court against the Norwegian runners-up Byåsen Trondheim – 29:24, 24:15. Polish champions Vistal Łączpol Gdynia used the multiplied home advantage to beat HC Gomel from Belarus twice 40:26, 25:23. In all-Serbian clash the title holders RK Zaječar confirmed the previous week´s three goal victory from the court of Jagodina and won by eleven (25:14) at home. Germany will have the strongest contingent of teams in the next stage. After they ranked third in the continental top flight´s Group D the champions Thüringer HC will carry on with their European adventure in another competition. They will be accompanied by league finalists TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen who beat Turkish side Izmir BSB SK twice (33:14, 35:20) and the last season´s semifinalists of the Cup Winners Cup HC Leipzig who ousted Toulon Saint Cyr Var Handball after their 29:18 victory in front of 3341 fans.
