Hasselt and Ankara through to the Challenge Cup Last 16

Initia Hasselt from Belgium and BB Ankara Spor from Turkey have already clinched the berths in the Men´s Challenge Cup Last 16 as both teams took advantage of playing both legs of Round 3 over the weekend on the home court.

Hasselt defeated twice Montenegrin side RK Sutjeska (30:18 and 23:16) and Ankara sailed past Bulgarian outfit HK Spartak Varna after victories 33:16 and 26:22.

Serbian participant Radnički Kragujevac got very close to the next stage as they beat Pas Aeropos Edessas from Greece 38:25 with two players – Zoran Nikolić and Ivan Rajčević scored in double digits (10 goals each).

The former winners of this competition Drammen HK made a big step towards Last 16 too as they beat Ukraine´s HC Portovik 38:29. The home team´s right wing Lars Erik Bjørnsen netted 15 goals what was the top shooting performance of the weekend.

Eight more teams will follow Hasselt and Ankara after the second leg and six clubs are already waiting as seeded for the next stage. The draw of the Last 16 will take place on Tuesday, 4 December at 11:00 hrs local time at the EHF Office in Vienna.
