Kolding winger to miss EHF Cup Group Phase

KIF Kolding are going to be without left winger Stefan Hundstrup for great parts of the EHF Cup Group Phase, and maybe all of it.
26 year old Hundstrup has undergone surgery for problems with his Achilles tendon. The operation was successful, but still Stefan Hundstrup is looking ahead of a two or three months break.

Stefan Hundstrup, who had a career with GOG and Viborg HK in the past, played for AG København the last two seasons, but when the ambitious Danish project went bankrupt at the end of July this year, he changed to KIF Kolding along with several other AGK players.

The skilled winger has been bothered with heel problems for about a year, and he and the club decided the get the operation over with at this point, hoping that he will be completely fit for the final matches about the Danish championship and for the knock-out rounds of the EHF Cup, if KIF get that far.

“It (the surgery) went the way it should. There is every reason to believe that he is now going to recover one hundred per cent physically, after having had major problems for a year or so,” KIF Kolding´s head coach Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen told the Danish website hbold.dk.

“Now he starts a six week period wearing a special boot, and after that we will have to see how many weeks it takes from there. He will not be back before some time in March, though. The best part, however, is that there is now basis for 10 or 12 more good years for him at top level,” Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen added.

KIF Kolding still have 37 year old Boris Schnuchel in the left wing position. The veteran, who has played for the club since 1997, will now have to play 60 minutes in every match in the months to come.
