Two more years for Skov in Viborg

Former Danish international hopes for new success with the triple European club champions

Two more years for Skov in Viborg

Former Danish international Rikke Skov has extended her contract with Danish top team Viborg HK for another two years, so that it is now valid until 30 June 2015.

“I would like very much to play some more years, and I could not imagine playing for any other club than Viborg,” said the 32 year old left back and defender, who has played in Viborg HK since the age of 14, and who was part of all the club´s three EHF Champions League triumphs – in 2006, 2009 and 2010. In 2011 Skov also received the EHF Handball Award as its only female holder.

This season Skov and her team-mates in Viborg had to leave the European top flight after the Group Matches, without having got a single point, and she makes no secret of her wish to avenge that disappointment at first chance.

“Now I hope that we can not only take the gold in the Danish league back to Viborg already this season, but that we can also come forward in Europe again in the near future. I am really motivated to build something up here. I have not extended my contract just to be here, but to win,” added Skov, who ended her national team career for good after the London Olympics in August.

Susanne Munk Wilbek, sports director in Viborg HK, was also a happy woman, as the extension was a fact. “At a time, where we carry out a lot of changes in the team, continuity is a must in order to make the changes successful. Therefore we are very happy to have been able to extend our contract with Rikke Skov who stands for continuity, if any one does, and who has done marvelously in the club,” Munk Wilbek said.
