Kadetten's Stojanović: "Anything is possible"

Experienced Serbian right back, Aleksandar Stojanović, has extended his contract with Swiss VELUX EHF Champions League participants Kadetten Schaffhausen until 2016.

The 29 year-old former Serbian international is one of the key members in the squad, which has reached the Last 16 twice in the last two seasons and won three domestic championships, and has been equally important this season, top scoring in four of the seven Group Phase matches so far and scoring 28 goals in total.

When asked by ehfCL.com about his decision to continue playing in Switzerland, Stojanović explained: “I am very happy to stay in Schaffhausen. Everything here is on a high level, I have a chance to play top class handball and to improve season after season.

“The team has had great success in the last three and a half years. We set high goals, and that is why I decided to stay in Switzerland.”

Aleksandar Stojanović, who represented Serbia at the 2009 World Championship and 2010 EHF EURO, moved to Switzerland in 2009, after periods in Slovenia, where he played for RK Celje Pivovarna Laško and Cimos Koper, and Macedonian clubs RK Vardar Pro and RK Metalurg.

Despite being two points behind fourth place Pick Szeged with just three matches left in the race for the final Last 16 berth in Group D of the VELUX EHF Champions League, Stojanović was optimistic when asked about Kadetten’s chances of progression to the Last 16 for a third year in a row.

“Of course that we are able, but we have to win all three matches. That will be an extremely difficult task, but we will play two matches at home and I am sure that we can beat Pick Szeged and Füchse Berlin.

“After all we will do everything to surprise Zagreb in their arena. Anything is possible,” concluded Stojanović.
