'We will try to surprise some teams,' says Lindboe
After two victories against RK Sloga, Norwegian club Elverum Handball Herrer will participate in the Group Phase of the EHF Cup.
Christian Berge's team faces Orlen Wisla Plock, RK Maribor Banik, and Team Tvis Holstebro. Left wing of Elverum Handball Herrer, André Lindboe, the team's top scorer, speaks to eurohandball.com about the club’s expectation for the EHF Cup, their first match against Plock and their aim for the rest of the season.
eurohandball.com: Your team plays in Group C in the Group Phase of the EHF Cup, what are your goals in this competition?
André Lindboe: This group consists of strong teams, but nobody expected that it would be an easy task.
It will be great challenge and a good learning process for our team to play these matches. I realise that we are not favourites in this group, but we will try to surprise some teams.
eurohandball.com: On Sunday, you play at the Terningen Arena against Orlen Wisla Plock. What do you expect against the Polish team?
André Lindboe: We won’t expect that it will be easy but we are ready for a hard and tough match. We are looking for an upset and to take two points.
Orlen Wisla Plock is the leader of the Polish league, so they have to be a strong team. They have a lot of the valuable players including Christian Spanne.
eurohandball.com: What do you think of new format in the EHF Cup?
André Lindboe: I think it is a great idea. It is a huge opportunity for us “small” clubs to meet big teams. It gives ability to play more matches and learn a lot from it.
eurohandball.com: Can you tell us something about Elverum's season, what are ambitions for the rest of season?
André Lindboe: Our season is not as strong as we wanted. We play well in the EHF Cup, but in league competition we have ups and downs. We want to win the Norwegian Championship but it will not be easy for us.
