Five WCh medalists lead Bjerringbro´s clinching mission to Chambéry

Players came back in very different conditions from the World Championships, coach Albrektsen says

Five WCh medalists lead Bjerringbro´s clinching mission to Chambéry

Just two weeks ago they won the silver medals with the national team at the World Championships in Spain, now they are to lead their club team in a different campaign.

Five participants of the tournament in Spain should be the flagships of Bjerringbro Silkeborg in their mission to clinch their first ever Last 16 berth already on Sunday in Chambéry, France.

Only four trainings and one game is all that the Danish team has gone through together since they last played a match.

Current number two in the Danish league had no less than five players on the Danish national team that won silver medals in Spain - Rasmus Lauge, Casper U. Mortensen, Henrik Toft Hansen, Kasper Nielsen and Jannick Green all played in the nightmare final against hosts (19:35).

Coach of Bjerringbro-Silkeborg Carsten Albrektsen knows that it is a big challenge to get his group back together after a long break.

“The players came back in very different conditions. Some played a lot and some did not. Some came back with a lot of confidence and some needs some building up. Those are  the conditions and we know that always when they leave. We need to focus on other aspects of our game and we will do that,” said Albrektsen.

His team need another victory to claim the fourth place in the group and the head coach thinks it is possible. But he has a lot of respect for the opponents from Chambéry.

“They are under a lot of pressure if they want to advance to the next phase. They need to win in order to keep their hope alive and that makes them very dangerous. And playing away games in the Champions League is always difficult,” Albrektsen explained.

The Danish team had a chance to claim the number 1 spot in the Danish league, but missed the chance with a defeat against Team Tvis Holstebro on Wednesday.
