Snowstorm means disappointment for German handball fans

Technical issues during Eurosport coverage

Handball fans in Germany were left disappointed over the weekend as an international signal outage meant that Eurosport were unable to show the final 10 minutes of the VELUX EHF Champions League match between Füchse Berlin and FC Barcelona Intersport.

Eurosport has explained that the technical issues were caused by a heavy snowstorm over Paris, which resulted in the loss of the satellite signal and left the channel unable to provide pictures and audio from the closing stages of the match.

Although emergency procedures were implemented, Eurosport was unable to show fans the end of the match live from Berlin.

The Group D clash was one of the real highlights of the eighth round, and saw the Füchse defeat their Spanish rivals 31:30 in front of 13,000 home fans to move to second place in the Group.

The match is now available to watch online with complete English commentary from ehfTV’s Tom Ó Brannagáin at ehfTV.com or the highlights
