With all their attacking talent on board, Györ demonstrated defensive masterclass in the opening stages and took a decisive 5:1 lead in the first 10 minutes.

Hungary and Györ playmaker Anita Görbicz was on fire, netting four goals in a furious first half with Randers briefly cutting the deficit to 8:7 when they applied a more athletic 4-2 defence.

Having weathered the storm to recapture a five-goal lead at halftime, the visitors maintained course throughout the second half despite the home team’s valiant efforts to reduce the arrears.

It was clear the match was beyond Randers when Györ were 21:15 ahead with the 10 minutes left, as their Norwegian goalkeeper Katrine Lunde Haraldsen also shone with a string of superb saves.

Pivot Heidi Løke was unstoppable and pierced through the Randers defence almost at will, winning the accolade of being the game’s joint top scorer with six goals alongside Görbicz.
