Kim Andersson returns for Sweden

Kolding back court player set for international comeback

Kim Andersson returns for Sweden

Kim Andersson is back in the Swedish national team. The 30-year-old right back from Danish club KIF Kolding had taken a break from the national team since the London Olympics last summer, where he played an extremely important part in Sweden winning the silver medal, but now he is ready to pull on the yellow shirt once again.

Andersson is part of the Swedish squad for the double-header against Poland in Group 5 of the EHF EURO 2014 qualifiers at the beginning of April, which has naturally pleased national team coaches Staffan Olsson and Ola Lindgren.

“We have been in a dialogue with Kim during the autumn season, and now he is ready for the national team again.

“It is really great for our team to have him back, as he is not only a terrific shooter, but also a fantastic reader of the game,” Staffan Olsson told the Swedish handball federation website, as the squad was announced.

The squad also includes a comeback for 36-year-old defensive specialist Magnus Jernemyr from FC Barcelona.

“Magnus has been bothered by some injuries, but he has played Barcelona’s latest matches. He, too, is extremely important to the team, due to his skills in the defence and his fantastic attitude,” explained Staffan Olsson.

Both Sweden and Poland are on four points in Group 5 and play first in Malmö on 4 April and then in Gdansk on 7 April.
