Löwen’s Steinhauser out for six months
20-year-old Rhein Neckar Löwen player, Marius Steinhauser, is out for approximately six months after suffering a knee injury.
The right wing tore his cruciate ligament on Saturday in the EHF Cup Group Match against TATRAN Presov (36:20) two minutes before the final whistle. In the examination the diagnosis was confirmed on Monday.
Steinhauser is the fourth Löwen player who is out for a long term after Uwe Gensheimer (torn Achilles), Kim Ekdahl du Rietz (torn muscle fibre), and Denni Djozic (ligament rupture).
Rhein Neckar Löwen secured the victory in Group B and qualification for the quarter-finals of the EHF Cup after winning against Presov and as KIF Kolding lost against HC Motor Zaporozhye on home court in the penultimate round.
In their final match the German side will play in Ukraine against Zaporozhye on Saturday (23 March).
