Göppingen announce future with Pevnov and Prost

After announcing the return of former player Michael Kraus from HSV Hamburg for next season, German EHF Cup quarter-finalist Frisch Auf Göppingen have signed another German international, 24-year-old Evgeni Pevnov from VELUX EHF Champions League participant Füchse Berlin.

Additionally Göppingen announced the extension of their contract with Slovenian goalkeeper Primosz Prost, who had arrived at Göppingen as an interim solution in February, as the club announced on their website.

29-year-old Prost was signed after a goalkeeper crisis in the club, with a number of injuries and the departure of Enid Tahirovic.

Prost was without a club in February after his contract with Montpellier MAHB was terminated.

After performing well for Göppingen both in the domestic league and in the EHF Cup, his contract was extended by the club until 2016.

“It is clearly recognisable that the upswing of our club in the Bundesliga and EHF Cup is built upon the performances of Primoz Prost,” announced the club in a press release.

The signature of pivot Evegeni Pevnov from Füchse Berlin is huge statement of intention from the club.

Pevnov was born in Uzbekistan and played for the Russian youth team, but took gained German citizenship in 2012 and has played for the national team since September. He will join the club in the summer and his contract will run for two seasons.
