New adidas stabil CHAMP CL ball unveiled at opening party

The stage illuminated in blue and red, a design of the ‘adidas stabil CHAMP CL’ in the background; and moderator Anett Sattler is announcing the first handball goalkeeper who ever was awarded  “World Handball Player of the Year”: Henning Fritz. He is carrying with him the brand new match ball of VELUX EHF Champions League.

On Friday evening a few thousand guests celebrated the opening party of the biggest event in men’s club handball season: the VELUX EHF FINAL4. All players of the four teams – FC Barcelona, HSV Handball, THW Kiel and KS Vive Targi Kielce – received a warm reception.

But there was still another item to be presented on stage: The new adidas VELUX EHF Champions League ball, the adidas Stabil CHAMP CL, was unveiled during the course of the evening.

The latest addition to adidas’ product line – in a brand new colour and design – has been developed to provide excellent on-court visibility with more contrasting colour blocks and a neon power band providing a distinctive look that also links to adidas’ top handball shoe, the stabil adipower 10.1.

The high-end match ball made from a soft and more grippy upper material provides long-term precision while an integrated counterweight on the opposite of the needle punch creates a more harmonic rotation and a better rebound effect.

Fans will not have too long to wait to see that ball in action. The VELUX EHF FINAL4 will be the first full event to be played with the new ball. The four teams have been training with the ball in the weeks ahead of the event with positive feedback from players.

The ball presented on the stage by Henning Fritz stays there on a small podium and will be signed by all the VIPs during the opening party. After the event it will be auction for the good cause of Deutsche Krebshilfe.
