Large training squad announced for build up to Randers

Igel nominates Poland squad for training camp

Stanisław Igel, coach of the Polish women's beach handball team, has nominated 26 players for the first phase of preparation ahead of the European Beach Handball Championship in Randers, Denmark.

"It is the first time that 26 players have been called up to the national team. I think that it is good, because our coach has some vision of the squad and wants to choose the best players to fit into it," Agnieszka Pęcherska told eurohandball.com.

The following training camp will be very short and lasts only two days, but promises to be very intensive for the players.

"Our first camp takes place at the Mazovia Cup, during the Polish Beach Handball Championships.

“The tournament in Sierpc is included in the European Beach Handball Tour. I think that the coach will be in a position to take a good look at us in action,” said Pęcherska.

Poland's women will face gold medalist from the 2011 championships, Croatia, as well as Hungary, Norway, Ukraine and Russia in Group A when the tournament throws off on 14 July.

"We will play in a group with very experienced teams. I suppose our group seems to be stronger"

"The first game against Hungary could be the key for us to the whole tournament. If we win, it will give us self-confidence in next matches. It is important for players who have yet to participate in a championship.

"Each match will be tough and hard, but if you want to win the championship in Randers you have to take it game by game,” concluded Pęcherska.
