Statements after the VELUX EHF Champions League drawClub representatives from several VELUX EHF Champions League participants commented on their respective team's chances after the draw for the group phase of the VELUX EHF Champions League had been made in Vienna on 28 July. Here is what they said: Christoph Wendt – HSV Hamburg "Obviously, we will try and repeat last season's success and maybe it's a good sign that we have to go through the qualification again. "It will be two interesting matches against Füchse Berlin. But they will be close and only if we give 100 per cent we can be sure that we will get to the next stage." Xavi O`Callaghan – FC Barcelona "We have no regrets about last season. We will compete again this year, trying to give our best. There are many good teams, but this is the Champions League. That's how it has to be. Our group for sure is very open." Thomas Christensen – Aalborg Handball "The people in Aalborg can't wait for the competition to start. And we are looking very much forward for the group phase to start. And I think we can do even better than Bjerringbro-Silkeborg last season." Radoslaw Wasiak – Vive Targi Kielce "That's our next dream to get to this season's FINAL4. But the important thing about sport is that it's about the present. So we will start the group phase and start writing a new chapter. "There will be interesting matches, exciting for the spectators, but it will be very hard to win again all ten matches in the group phase." Bruno Martini – Paris Saint Germain Handball "It will be a strong competition with strong team and we will do our best. But we know that we don't have the experience of the other teams, so we will approach it with a lot of humility. We have build up month after month and I don't think we are ready to say that we will reach the FINAL4." TEXT: EHF / ts |
