Budućnost hungry for winning, Byzdra promises
The 2012 winners have finished the preparation for the new start of the EHF Champions League season. Sunday's game with MKS Lublin in Morača hall will tell a lot about the current form of Dragan Adžić’s team.
In an exclusive interview to ehfCL.com, the Polish reinforcement of Budućnost Kinga Byzdra speaks about the ucoming game against the side from her home country, about the expectations for the new season and her impressions from the new club.
ehfCL.com: It is always important to have a good start of the season. Since you are playing at home, what kind of start do you expect?
Kinga Byzdra: I expect that all players of Budućnost can give all 100% of their power and give everything on the court. We know how important these games are, and we have one goal, we want to win.
ehfCL.com: How dangerous MKS Lublin can be, as you know them well from the time you played for Lubin? What are their strengths and weaknesses?
Kinga Byzdra: I know them very well, because in the Polish league we played a lot against each other. MKS Lublin have experience and national team players. They represent a threat at every position. We have been preparing for the game with them and we have to play smart and be focus in the defense.
When I was in Zaglebie Lubin, we used a defensive formation 3-2-1 against them. In Budućnost we play differently. In my opinion, defence is the most importang thing to win the game. If you play well in defence, you can score easy goals from contra attacks. We are really focused on this element, and we have to be better and better.
ehfCL.com: Are you familiar with the good atmosphere in Morača hall and a help of your fans now? What atmosphere do you expect on Sunday?
Kinga Byzdra: I saw in TV what is happening when Morača hall is full. I can imagine what kind of feeling it is. I think the fans from Budućnost are really eighth player of the team. They make unbelievable atmosphere.
ehfCL.com: Do you believe that Budućnost are favourites to get one of the first two places in the group to reach the Main Round?
Kinga Byzdra: In handball everything can happens. Every game is different and we have to be focus all the time. We have strong a team and we are hungry for winning, but we have to be patient and play clever with head.
ehfCL.com: How far can Budućnost go this season in the EHF Champions League? Can your team do better then last season and reach at least the semi-final?
Kinga Byzdra: I really wish that for us, but as I said, everything can happen. We have some goals and we want to achieve them, step by step. It’s to simple to say that we want to play in semi-final and final. We are training for that and we are doing our best in every moment when we can.
ehfCL.com: What are you impressions so far from the club, the city or the country?
Kinga Byzdra: In the beginning it wasn’t easy. Everything was new for me, country, language, team, coach…but other players really help me a lot with everything.
As everybody know we are very young team, I have to say that I feel like a part of these big family. We support each other and now I feel so good in Budućnost!
ehfCL.com: You are the third Polish player in Budućnost’s history, after Monika Marzec and Izabela Puchacz, who did very well here from 2003 to 2005? What are your personal expectations?
Kinga Byzdra: Firstly, I have to tell that Monika and Iza set the bar high. I never expected that I will play in Budućnost like them. I want to be as good as them and I do my best all the time.
It’s a pleasure for me to play for this club with so many good players. Together we create something amazing, I can’t find good words to describe that.
