Three teams through to the Last 16
Seven teams directly seeded for the Women's Challenge Cup Last 16 were joined by four more names last weekend as DHC Slavia Praha from the Czech Republic, Colegio de Gaia from Portugal, France's Union Mios Biganos-Beggles and Ukraine's HC Dnepryanka Kherson clinched the tickets to the next round.
The Ukrainian side Dnepryanka Kherson can have fond memories of their last weekend's trip to Greece as their rivals GAS Anagennisi Arta proved to be too hospitable hosts losing both matches on their court (21:25, 16:17). Kherson will be accompanied by their compatriots PO SC Galychanka Lviv on the starting grid of the next round.
While nothing has been decided in the ex-Yugoslavian derby between Montenegro's Danilovgrad and Serbia's HC Naisa Nis (25:24), four more teams made big steps in the Last 16 direction in the first leg. France's Union Mios Biganos-Begles overpowered Poland's Vistal Gdynia in two matches at home (34:24 and 25:22) relying mostly on Alexandre Lacrabere as the reinforcement from Russia's Zvezda Zvenigorod scored 10 goals in the first match and added 5 in the second.
