Three national federations fined
Three decisions were released by the EHF Court of Handball following infringements occurred within the frameworks of 2014 Women’s European Championship Qualification matches.
Consequently, the decisions may be summarised as follows:
According to point D.1 a) of the EHF List of Penalties, the National Federations of Denmark, Norway and Sweden are sanctioned with fines respectively amounting to €5,000, €4,000 and €2,000 for violation of the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations regarding advertising set-up (too many floor stickers were affixed on the playing court) during the Women’s EHF EURO 2014 Qualification. Half of the fines are imposed on a suspended basis.
According to point D.2 c) the Swedish Handball Federation is in addition sanctioned with a fine of €2,000 for the use of a handball floor not only composed of handball lines.
The applicable obligations are stated in the EHF EURO Qualification Regulations, respectively in articles 27.9, 27.10 and 27.11 for the advertising set-up and 23.1 and 23.6 for the use of a handball court with handball lines only.
An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
